The pulp industry has considerable potential to capture and store biogenic carbon dioxide, so-called bio-CCS. Large amounts of point-source carbon dioxide emissions from biofuels in combination with own electricity production and deepwater ports, suitable for shipping liquid carbon dioxide, make bio-CCS an attractive alternative for the pulp industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Increased production of biofuels with bio-CCU, which means that the captured carbon dioxide is used as a raw material, has the potential to become a new forest industry product. The technology requires a lot of electricity and could significantly increase the pulp industry\u2019s electricity use, if deemed profitable.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
